ANCELOTTI: TIME FOR WORK

Share

Carlo Ancelotti has been discussing the training schedule for the next few weeks as he welcomes his players back in for pre-season training.
The last time we saw the manager he was atop a double-decker bus singing his heart out having just won the Barclays Premier League and FA Cup in his first season.
Now after a few weeks off it is back to work again as he aims to build on those successes, and although he is without his full complement of players for the commencement of pre-season preparations, the manager's mood is extremely positive.
'We started on Monday, last year we started at the same time and we need maybe five weeks to prepare the team, to do the best physical preparation,' the Italian explained. 'We will have the other players on July 22 and 26, but for the first games of pre-season they will not be involved.'
That means our first fixture with Crystal Palace on July 17 will see us without 11 first-teamers still on holiday, though coming into the group will be Yossi Benayoun, who joined up with the squad yesterday, as well as a number of youngsters who have either been enjoying loan spells away from Chelsea, or partaking in FA Youth Cup successes.
'It could be a little different this year, a little difficult because we don't have all the players to start the season but we can still do a good job,' Ancelotti said.
'Benayoun I think is a good player, we need to have a player with quality who can play in the midfield.
'He can play in every position in midfield and for this I think he will be a very good player for us for next season.'
It may be just over a month away, but like pre-season, the start of the new campaign will be here before we know it. Ancelotti will be sure to have his men ready.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti delighted with Chelsea Double

Share

Carlo Ancelotti hailed a "great season" for Chelsea after the club sealed a Premier League and FA Cup Double after a 1-0 win over Portsmouth at Wembley.
Didier Drogba's free-kick proved enough in the FA Cup final, although Petr Cech will also get the plaudits for his penalty save from Kevin Prince Boateng.
"It was a great day and a great season," said the Chelsea manager.
"The strength is in the organisation of the club. Everybody worked hard to do their best this season."
The Italian believed that Cech's spot-kick save in the 56th minute was a crucial turning point in the match.
"It was the key moment," he said. "It would have been very difficult if Portsmouth scored."
Cech regarded his save from Boateng as "lucky".
"I knew what the choices were and from the body language when he ran towards me I chose that side - but I was lucky to get there," he added.
Ancelotti, who joined Chelsea last summer, has now won the Community Shield, league title and FA Cup.

Asked whether he was now looking to add the Champions League he said: "We will try. This year we wanted to win also the Champions League but we have to be happy for the Premier League and the FA Cup."
Chelsea hit the woodwork five times in the first half and goal-hero Drogba revealed he thought his side would be out of luck on the day.
"It's fantastic - we achieved the Double," said the Ivory Coast striker, who curled in his 25-yard winner in the 59th minute.

The reason why we are top of the league and won the FA Cup is that we are the best team and we have great determination
John Terry
"It was difficult to come back and stay focused after we celebrated the title.
"It was difficult again against a very good Portsmouth team.
"You start to feel that you won't score but if you manage to create chances in the first half it means in the second you will have some."
On his free-kick, he added: "I saw a little gap, not a big space, because the wall was in its position.
"I hit the post again but it went in this time."
Captain John Terry, who has now won eight major titles with the club, said Chelsea were the "best team" this season.
"It is incredible - what an amazing day today," said the 29-year-old England defender.
"It was one of those days but we came strong and full credit to Didier.
"The reason why we are top of the league and won the FA Cup is that we are the best team and we have great determination."

Where has Chelsea gone Wrong?

Share

Chelsea began the season with the appoinment of the new manager Ancelotti stating they wanted to win Champion League for their owner "Abramovich" . But even Ancelotti failed to bid the Champions League trophy which remains as a jinx at Stamford. The crashing out of league at an earlier stage with out even making into the final eight is something that Abramovich don't expect from his new manager. And the thing is Abramovich has released and Ultimatum for his staff and players to face serious actions if they didn't prove them selves in EPL.
 The Problem Statement
-------------------------
Chelsea were desperate to put their hands on the Champions trophy this season , but injuries caused them to go into the league with a poor line up which lacked creativity and penetrating power.Among  the numerous  injury vows , it was Essien that made a large impact on Chelsea line up. He used to be a powerful face in the Chelsea midfield who created chances as well as brought fluidity into their game. Missing out Bosingwa for the whole season was also a severe blow that Ancelotti faced though he tried to recover his miss using Ivanovic. Then came Ashley Cole , who was the master mind of all the attacks along left wing during the first half of the season. As he was sidelined for rest of the season , Ancelotti missed out another big gun from his armory.
Chelsea didn't do any major signings this season , the one being Zirkov and Sturridge , both of them didn't made ab impact on the team also. All expected a major signing in the form of a world class striker or attacking midfielder to assist Drogba up in the front. As neither of the signings didn't happen , it left Chelsea as team whom you can beat if you tied Drogba down.
Then came scandals. That too about Mr. Chelsea captain John Terry. He was hit by the scandal linking Wein Bridge's former girl friend.  That caused Terry to lose England's captaincy also. After that event , Terry was been just a shadow of his old himself. That left the famous Chelsea defense an easily penetrable one.
Now that they are out of Champions League , Chelsea have to concentrate on winning EPL , where they still hold the first place in the table. But with matches pending against Manchester United and Liverpool , The Blues will have to win all the games from now on to bring the EPL trophy back to Stamford once again.
What ever may be the turn out at the end of this season , Chelsea will have to cash in next transfer season and bring in some class players to build a strong line up to claim all the trophies.

Chelsea Manager Urges Players to Look Forward

Share

Carlo Ancelotti believes Chelsea must forget about Saturday's defeat immediately and concentrate on the FA Cup challenge ahead.
Manchester City's 4-2 victory is hard to swallow for both the squad and fans. It is made more frustrating by the fact Chelsea conceded two goals from counter-attacks, something the Blues are normally adept at dealing with and was added to by our previous record over City, which saw them fail to score in the previous seven meetings at Stamford Bridge.
But Ancelotti insists we must put the loss behind us as we face an FA Cup fixture on Sunday against the side who knocked Manchester City out of the competition.
'There is no time for being angry now,' says the Italian. 'We did a bad performance but we have to look forward.
'It is a difficult moment when you lose a game but we have the possibility to prepare well for the next game and have a good direction. Now we want to show good direction against Stoke in the FA Cup.
'We have confidence in our play and we want to maintain this. It is better to forget immediately.'
The manager blamed our conceding from counter attacks on over-hasty attacking as the Blues strove to salvage the fixture.
'We lost balance when we were on goal down and we conceded two goals from counter-attacks. Usually this team never concedes a goal from counter-attacks.
'But sometimes this can happen. We put too many players up front but it was not a necessity because we had 45 minutes to win this game.'
With balance suffering, numbers on the pitch did too as both Juliano Belletti and Michael Ballack received red cards.
'Discipline went after we lost balance and concentration. We made some mistakes but the red card of Belletti was a situation of play. Ballack could have avoided that foul.'
