Loaning Lukaku A good Move or a Bad Move?

With the start of a new season as Chelsea secured the signing of Samuel Eto , the once prolific frontman from Anzhimakalela; there wasn't much of a reaction when Mourinho decided to loan Lukaku to Everton. But the situation changed drastically just in the time frame of two months.
                                        As Lukaku , the much expected youngster started a goal streak at Everton and the so called big shots in Chelsea front line has yet to produce a goal in their name. Many a fans where asking the same question. Whether it was a bad move by the "Special One" ? As we all know the tactician he is , Mourinho infact did the right thing to loan Lukaku. In a club like chelsea with so much competition for places and such expectations to win every other match they play. It would have been hard to get enough playing time for a youngster like Lukaku. Especially with the likes of Torres , Eto and Ba competing for a single place in the starting line up. Also keeping in mind the fact that , World Cup 2014 is soon arriving and with Belgium emerging as 5thFavourites for the cup , a player like Lukaku needs much more playing time to keep his metal in shine.
                                          Lukaku though physically strong and with lot of talent ; he is very young and at the age of 20 , he defenitely has a lot of years left in his bag. The way he is evolving at Everton now , there is nothing left to imagination that he will be the main strike power of Chelsea attacking squad for the Season 2014-2015. Yes finally Chelsea have a 'new Drogba' in the making.

VILLAS-BOAS: IN PROFILE

Andre Villas-Boas returns to Chelsea after a gap of just under four years.
He was our scout responsible for assessing opposition teams throughout Jose Mourinho's time in charge of the team which was between the summer of 2004 and September 2007.
He remained part of Mourinho's staff when Inter appointed the ex-Chelsea manager as their new coach for the 2008/09 season, allowing Andre to extend his experience of working in Europe's big clubs and experience more trophy success as the Italian club won the Serie A title.
Shortly after the start of the following season came the chance to move into management in his own right, the offer coming from Portuguese club Academica from the city of Coimbra. Raising the previously struggling club up to 11th in the table by the end of the season and into a League Cup semi-final impressed Porto sufficiently for Andre's former club to give him the senior coaching position with less than one year's experience of that role. He did not disappoint them.
The club returned to the type of silverware haul they enjoyed under Mourinho, winning the Portuguese Super Cup at the start of the season and progressing to win a domestic league and cup double and the Europa League by beating another Portuguese side, Braga, 1-0 in Dublin in May. Aged 33, Andre became the youngest manager to win a European trophy

At home Porto had broken their own record for games unbeaten at the start of the season in all competitions, previously set in the Mourinho era. They played 36 times before losing a group stage League Cup game. They went through the league campaign unbeaten, drawing just three games out of 30 and scoring 73 goals as they finished a record 21 points ahead of second-placed Benfica, earning praise for their attacking style of football both at home and in Europe.
Andre was the first at Chelsea to hold the opposition scout role as a dedicated, full-time position and was innovative in the use of up-to-date computer and video technology to brief the coaching staff and players. It played an important part in bringing back-to-back Premier League titles and FA Cup and Carling Cup victories to Stamford Bridge.

His involvement in professional football began as a 17-year-old when then Porto manager Bobby Robson moved into the same building in the city.
A young enthusiast for the sport, Andre soon enjoyed conversations with the highly-experienced ex-England manager. With an English grandmother, he spoke the language to a very high standard which also helped his work when he moved to Chelsea.
He was invited along to Porto training sessions and Robson recommended his new protégé travel to the UK to take courses. He became the youngest person to gain the FA's coaching qualification.
Robson then made Andre the youth team coach at Porto where he remained until Mourinho's arrival seven years later, when he began working in the role he fulfilled at Chelsea first time around. Porto won two Portuguese League titles, the Portuguese Cup, the Uefa Cup and the Champions League before the coaching team moved to London in 2004.

Andre Villas-Boas appointed as new Chelsea manager

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce that Andre Villas-Boas will be the club's new manager.

He has signed a three-year contract and will start work immediately.

Andre was the outstanding candidate for the job. He is one of the most talented young managers in football today and has already achieved much in a relatively short space of time. His ambition, drive and determination matches that of Chelsea and we are confident Andre's leadership of the team will result in greater successes in major domestic and European competitions.

Andre will bring his coaching experience back to a club he is already very familiar with, having previously worked here for three years. He has always been highly regarded at Chelsea and everyone here looks forward to welcoming him back and working with him.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti delighted with Chelsea Double

Carlo Ancelotti hailed a "great season" for Chelsea after the club sealed a Premier League and FA Cup Double after a 1-0 win over Portsmouth at Wembley.
Didier Drogba's free-kick proved enough in the FA Cup final, although Petr Cech will also get the plaudits for his penalty save from Kevin Prince Boateng.
"It was a great day and a great season," said the Chelsea manager.
"The strength is in the organisation of the club. Everybody worked hard to do their best this season."
The Italian believed that Cech's spot-kick save in the 56th minute was a crucial turning point in the match.
"It was the key moment," he said. "It would have been very difficult if Portsmouth scored."
Cech regarded his save from Boateng as "lucky".
"I knew what the choices were and from the body language when he ran towards me I chose that side - but I was lucky to get there," he added.
Ancelotti, who joined Chelsea last summer, has now won the Community Shield, league title and FA Cup.

Asked whether he was now looking to add the Champions League he said: "We will try. This year we wanted to win also the Champions League but we have to be happy for the Premier League and the FA Cup."
Chelsea hit the woodwork five times in the first half and goal-hero Drogba revealed he thought his side would be out of luck on the day.
"It's fantastic - we achieved the Double," said the Ivory Coast striker, who curled in his 25-yard winner in the 59th minute.

"It was difficult to come back and stay focused after we celebrated the title.
"It was difficult again against a very good Portsmouth team.
"You start to feel that you won't score but if you manage to create chances in the first half it means in the second you will have some."
On his free-kick, he added: "I saw a little gap, not a big space, because the wall was in its position.
"I hit the post again but it went in this time."
Captain John Terry, who has now won eight major titles with the club, said Chelsea were the "best team" this season.
"It is incredible - what an amazing day today," said the 29-year-old England defender.
"It was one of those days but we came strong and full credit to Didier.
"The reason why we are top of the league and won the FA Cup is that we are the best team and we have great determination."

Summer 2009

Carlo Ancelotti's arrival heralded a quiet summer, with the new coach opting for the sort of stability that had characterised his spell in charge of Milan. Ancelotti had an eye on the future, with the arrival of Russian international Yury Zhirkov supplemented by the arrival of three young prospects.

Chelsea goal Keeper Peter Cech out for one month

             Chelsea suffers a further shock as the main shot stopper Peter Cech has been declared to be out of team for one month due to a calf injury.
The 27-year-old fell in agony after taking a cross unchallenged during the Blues' 2-1 Champions League defeat at Inter Milan on Wednesday.A scan has revealed Cech tore a calf muscle, and a Chelsea spokesman said the Czech international is expected to be out "for three to four weeks".
Cech will definitely miss his side's Premier League games at home to Manchester City on Saturday and away to West Ham on 13 March, the FA Cup quarter-final visit of Stoke on 7 March and the second leg of their European tie against Inter at Stamford Bridge nine days later.
It seems likely, too, that manager Carlo Ancelotti will be without his first-choice keeper for the Premier League games at Blackburn (21 March) and Portsmouth (24 March).
And Cech must also be considered a doubt for the league matches at home to Aston Villa on 27 March and the trip to title rivals Manchester United on 3 April.
Following the defeat at the San Siro, Blues midfielder Frank Lampard was in little doubt that Cech's absence would be felt: "It's a huge blow. He's been in outstanding form and has always been up there with the best in the world."
Cech, who will also miss his country's friendly international in Scotland next Wednesday, was replaced by 34-year-old Hilario on 61 minutes after suffering the bizarre injury.
Chelsea were already trailing 2-1 at that stage, having gone 1-0 down after only three minutes when Diego Milito cut inside John Terry on the left and beat Cech with a low shot to the keeper's right.
Salomon Kalou equalised in the 51st minute before Esteban Cambiasso put Inter back in front four minutes later with a fierce, left-foot strike.Hilario was largely untroubled when he came on, although his kicking gave some cause for concern.The former Porto player is expected to continue in goal, however, the Blues could also call on former England Under-20 keeper Ross Turnbull.
The 25-year-old joined the club last summer on a free transfer from Middlesbrough.
Cech, a £7m capture from Rennes in 2004, is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.His career almost ended in October 2006 when he required surgery for a skull fracture after a collision with Reading's Stephen Hunt.Cech was out for three months and has since worn a protective headguard during games.

Chelsea lost to Mourinho's Inter Milan (Chelsea 1-2 Inter Milan)

Chelsea suffered a first leg defeat to former boss Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan in their Champions League last 16 tie.Inter got off to the perfect start when Diego Milito cut inside and fired in with only three minutes gone.
Chelsea rallied from the early blow and after Salomon Kalou was denied a strong first-half penalty claim he was on hand to fire Chelsea level after half-time.
Parity was short-lived, with Esteban Cambiasso drilling in to give Inter a narrow lead to take to Stamford Bridge.
Predictably, it was Mourinho who took centre stage as it was the first match against the club he led for two-and-a-half seasons, but this was an encounter laden with context.Current Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti led Inter's local rivals AC Milan with aplomb between 2001 and 2009 and this was the first time he has brought a side to the city since leaving for west London last summer.
In addition, there is the added spice that former Champions League winners Mourinho and Ancelotti - the Portuguese with Porto in 2004, the Italian with Milan in 2003 and 2007 - are managers charged with repeating their feat in Europe's premier club competition with their current clubs.

Under Mourinho, Chelsea were often accused of an overly cautious approach that came at the expense of entertainment, but Ancelotti affords his charges greater licence to be expansive and, on the front foot, they are an attractive team to watch.
Unfortunately, they are occasionally susceptible at the back as a result and Inter capitalised on this fallibility with their very first attack.
With the ball won just inside the Chelsea half, firstly Thiago Motta and then Samuel Eto'o fed the ball through for Milito who, with space afforded by Wesley Sneijder's presence, stepped inside John Terry and beat Petr Cech at the near post.
Despite falling behind, Chelsea were not overawed and slowly began to assert themselves on the game, claiming the greater share of possession and attacking with intent.
However, they were limited to a series of long-range efforts by a hard-working home side.Didier Drogba came closest with a powerfully struck 25-yard free-kick which beat Julio Cesar but struck the underside of the crossbar before being cleared to safety.
Ivory Coast international Drogba is the only African player with more career Champions League goals than ordinarily lethal Cameroonian Eto'o.
However, the Inter number nine missed a glorious opportunity to add to his tally of 18 Champions League goals just after the half-hour mark.
Sneijder cut in from the left and drove a low cross over for the centrally positioned Eto'o in plenty of space and only eight yards out but he badly miscued his effort.
The half ended in controversy when a mistake in midfield gave Kalou a clear run on goal, but before he was able to shoot he was felled by a last-ditch tackle from Walter Samuel.
Referee Mejuto Gonzalez waved away calls for a penalty but replays showed that Kalou's heels had been clipped by the defender.
Within five minutes of the restart Kalou's anger had turned to jubilation as he brought his side level.Branislav Ivanovic carried the ball deep into Inter territory, evading a number of challenges, before feeding Kalou 20 yards out and his side-foot shot beat Cesar and found the corner of the net.
Once again the sides were level but only for three minutes.Sneijder's cross from the right was headed away by Ricardo Carvalho to Cambiasso, whose first shot was blocked by Ivanovic but his second, from 18 yards was drilled perfectly into the far corner.It was a decisive blow so soon after Chelsea had deservedly levelled and the Blues never fully recovered their composure.
There were intermittent glimpses of their capabilities; most notably when Drogba and Nicolas Anelka combined for the latter to provide a golden chance for Frank Lampard eight yards out, but Cesar was equal to it.A single-goal first leg deficit will not worry Ancelotti, but the sight of goalkeeper Cech being carried injured from the pitch was more concerning with the season entering a crucial phase.Fears that Cech had badly damaged a knee were dispelled when it was revealed that he had suffered a calf injury.

First Tiger Woods.. Now Terry??

The latest allegations on John Terry's relationship with his ex Chelsea mate Wane Bridge is pointing to the devastating effect of Media involvement in the personal affairs of big stars. Now that all are talking about the "story" ; Terry is under immense pressure that can even cost his future as Chelsea and English Team captaincy.
Few weeks earlier there was a similar media hike about the illegal relations of golf champion Tiger Woods , that ended up in his professional withdrawal from the game. Ones personal life should be his own concern whether he is a star or an ordinary man. The media interferance can have a really deleterious effect and has to be controlled.

As the Terry scam has got a lot of attention around the glob, voices have started rising for his head as England's captain. Though Chelsea has given him full protection by releasing a statement that the club will always stay with the player, England manager Fabio Capello is yet to react in the issue.
There is a silent push from the Manchester City side in the issue as they have once again turned their focus on Chelsea captain. Earlier the season , they tried with enormous bids to sign Terry from Chelsea but all went in wain. Now that Wane Bridge has come up with allegations and all Man City players supporting him ; something is very fishy anout the whole thing.
What ever be his personal life is, John Terry is a great player and has shown his credibilities both on and off the field. The words by Barcelona Manager pep Guardiola after last years Champions League semi finals reveals the sportsmanship in Terry. All the Chelsea fans are behind Terry and he should not lose his composure and just hold his head up.

Chelsea 2-1 Burnley

Terry came up with a brilliant header that helped Chelsea bag three points in a thrilling away match against Burnley. It was Chelsea who took the lead as Anelka netted a superb counter attack initiated by Cech finding Joe Cole in the wing. He then tossed the ball above the Burnley center back to find Malouda who fed Anelka with a brilliant pass. Anelka tipped the ball ever so smoothly into the net. The blues continued to pressure up by setting up a brilliant piece of attacking football.
The second half saw slightly different Burley side. They came up with some good passes and in the 50th minute , Fletcher moved past Alex and fired home the equalizer. After conceding the equalizer , the Blues came back as wounded tigers and pushed really hard for the second one but couldn't quite made it.
The Search for the winning goal was on and it was "Mr. Chelsea" captain John Terry who found the net with a superb header on 82nd minute.Even though he was under lot of pressure from the media and public , he proved the point why he wears the captains arm band. Ancelotti was more than happy that his side bagged all the three vital points as they went 4 points ahead of title rivals Manchester United.

Is Chelsea gonna "CASH IN" for 2010 ???

Its been a tough season so far for Chelsea ; eventhough on top of the table , poor performances in last few matches have raised alot of questions on "The Blues " as the premier league reaches the half term.Eventhough Chelsea begun the season with much grace and vigor under the new manager Ancelotti , they seem to be lost their way. Its will be a hard task for the manager to make the blues back in action as a number of key players will be missing in January because of African Nations Cup.

Chelsea needs a player who can make the " change " , who can create something from "nothing". As the new transfer season starts with the newyear , all chelsea fans all around the globe are anxiously waiting for how much Abramovich is gonna put in the table this January. From the club's point of view , it is an important transfer season on grounds of awaiting transfer ban imposed by FIFA.

So far this season , Drogba has been the key player for Chelsea. He himself netted 19 goals till now including Premier league as well as in other championships. His absense in the squad in January will be a huge headache. Chelsea desperately needs a new brilliant striker who can substitute some one like Drogba. Eventhough Ancelotti claims Chelsea can get over with it without new arrivals , fans as well as players are hoping for new faces at Stamfordbridge this january.

As per rumours ,Aguero and Ribery are in the hhit list along with many other. Lets wait and watch what Abramovich and Ancelotti are upto. Hope they bring in new brilliant faces at Stamford this Jan.
